Question 1

How much do custom blinds, shades, and shutters cost in Central PA?

Accepted Answer

Custom window treatments usually range from about $100 to over $1,000 per window. The price depends on the product, window size, material, operating system, motorization, and number of windows, so an exact quote needs the actual windows measured. That is why Made in the Shade Central Pennsylvania includes a free in-home consultation — we bring the mobile showroom to you, measure every window, show samples in your home's real light, and tailor the quote to your project.

Question 2

What window treatments are best for a Central PA winter?

Accepted Answer

Cellular (honeycomb) shades are the top choice. Their honeycomb cells trap a layer of air at the glass, which slows heat loss through poorly covered windows that Central PA winters punish, and helps lower your heating bill through the frigid months. Plantation shutters add a second insulating layer, and many of our products carry a limited lifetime warranty.

Question 3

Are you locally owned?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Made in the Shade Central Pennsylvania is locally owned and operated by Jo Crider, an independently owned franchise serving Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, and the surrounding areas. We have no retail storefront, so we bring the full mobile showroom to your home and pass the savings on to you. You work with a local team from the first sample to the final install.

Question 4

Do your window treatments help with energy bills in every season?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cellular shades insulate against frigid winters and cut summer heat gain, and solar shades block the sun's heat and up to 99% of UV on bright windows. Better thermal performance at the window helps lower your energy bills through our brutal summers and cold winters. We help you match the right product to each window and exposure during your free consultation.

Question 5

Can my shades be motorized and smart-home ready?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our motorized shades work with all major smart-home devices, so you can say 'Alexa, raise my shades,' or control them by app or schedule. It is ideal for tall and hard-to-reach windows, and we program it during installation.

Question 6

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

Made in the Shade Central Pennsylvania serves Camp Hill, Carlisle, Dillsburg, Enola, Hummelstown, Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg, Hershey, Wormleysburg, East Berlin, and the surrounding areas. The mobile showroom comes to your home anywhere in the service area. Call (717) 585-8715 to confirm we cover your area — we'll bring the showroom to you.
